This describes what Pack Matrix actually does today. Where something is not described here, it is because Pack Matrix does not do it.
Your inventory, containers, container records, saved settings and specialty evaluations are stored in your browser on the device you use, not on our servers. Clearing your browser's site data deletes them. Signing in on a second device does not bring them across — the backup file in Account → Data & privacy is how you move or recover that work, and it stays on your machine unless you choose to send it somewhere.
A backup file contains what you entered. It does not contain determinations or waste codes: those are worked out again by whatever version of Pack Matrix you restore into. It contains no password and no payment details.
To sign in we store your email address and the sign-in records our authentication provider needs. To know what you have bought we store your subscription — the plan, its status, its billing interval and the current period end — against your account.
Payment card details are handled by Stripe and are never sent to or stored by Pack Matrix.
When you issue a container control number, that number is reserved from our server so the same number can never be issued twice. We record the number, the container it was issued to, your account, the device that issued it, when it was issued, and the item identifiers that were in the container at the time. That record is what makes a number printed on a drum accountable.
Pack Matrix may retain chemical or product lookup text as entered, whether the lookup resolved, the CAS number to which it resolved, whether disambiguation was required, candidates shown, and the candidate selected. We use this information to identify gaps and improve Pack Matrix's shared chemical-identification library. This lookup log does not include manually entered composition or concentration data, free-text inventory notes, IP addresses, or identifiers linking these lookup records to a customer account.
These records are dated to the week rather than the moment, because that is the only date the record holds.
If you choose to email a packing-list link, Pack Matrix sends the recipient email address, reply-to email address, message subject, and a link to our email delivery provider so the message can be delivered. Your inventory, container records, determinations, and packing-list contents are not included in that email-provider request. The packing list remains hosted by Pack Matrix and is accessed through the link.
A packing list you send is stored so the link can open it: the packing list as it was generated, the address you sent it to, when it was created, and an expiry. This is a record of what was sent, to whom, and when — which is the point of being able to share one. The link stops working when it expires.
Anyone with the link can view that packing list. Treat it as you would the document itself.
Pack Matrix uses third-party services to operate: a hosting provider, a database and authentication provider, a payment processor, and an email delivery provider. Each receives only what is described above for the purpose described above.
